ARE YOU THE NEXT FAT MASCARA INTERN?

We’re looking to hire a remote intern who is interested in learning about podcasting, social media, journalism, and the beauty industry. This unpaid internship involves about 4 - 6 hours per week and will be for Fall 2024 (Oct. 1 - Dec. 31), with an opportunity to extend into spring semester. We’re happy to work with any college or university programs to adjust or extend the internship to meet credit requirements.

Responsibilities: You'll be learning to develop ideas and segments for our bi-weekly podcast and assisting with background research on beauty topics and guests. You’ll also contribute to Fat Mascara's event programs and social media content creation and assist with our branded content and affiliate program, if that’s of interest. Plus, you’ll hone your reporting and writing chops by creating recaps to accompany each episode.

Requirements: We are looking to hire college students, part-time workers early in their careers, or high school graduates with prior work experience. He/she/they can be based anywhere, but should be reachable during U.S. East Coast office hours. The ideal candidate will have listened to at least a few episodes of our podcast and be familiar with our style and content. He/she/they should be reliable and organized with a sense of humor, a love of beauty products, and a familiarity with the beauty industry and its big names and influencers. Knowledge of Slack and Squarespace are bonuses but not necessary. We’ll teach you everything you need to know!

Hours: We are looking for someone who can contribute 4 - 6 hours per week‚ or more if interested. There are no set hours, and the internship is remote, but the Fat Mascara podcast is published at 3 pm on Wednesdays & Fridays, and the intern should be available some time in the 24 hours prior to publishing to assist with time-sensitive production tasks.
